It started with a simple telenovela in a TV

"Por eso vuelo a otro sendero

Para conocer el mundo de verdad"

I searched the internet for what it looked like to be an au pair, I wrote to girls on Facebook groups who had been on such programs to find out what it was like in real life and I started looking for something serious.

I googled what actually was an aupair. -> It's a cultural exchange program where you go to a family of your choice and take care of a child in exchange for accommodation, food and possibly pocket money. Various options are negotiable and depend on the hospitality of the family (rate, flights, trips, language courses).

Organizations that help find a family are common, but you have to pay them for it. I decided that I wouldn't pay for something which I could manage myself. And so I found a woman somewhere on a Facebook group recruiting girls in Spain (because it was my dream. I love the language, the sun and the temperament of the Spanish). After a short conversation, in Polish and English, she presented me with several family profiles and arranged a Skype conversation. At that moment, I was a numb with Spanish - I only knew basic words from Spanish series. It was funny because my chosen family barely knew English :D Eli - my host was on the course, so she was the only one who knew some words in English, while Rafa - her husband - absolutely nothing, even worse than I did at Spanish. That's why it was funny, but they hired me. I was supposed to look after two-year-old Lucas. I chose such a small child on purpose, because I have some experience with such little ones, and I thought I wouldn't have to talk to him because such a small child doesn't speak anything.

Unfortunately, as it turned out, they wanted me to teach him English haha. We set a date, signed a contract, I bought a flight and now the moment had come that my first dream ever was becoming more real. I started to be stressed and nervous but rest of the story you can read in upcoming article.

Who does not know the most famous in the whole world (or maybe only in Poland) telenovela "Muñeca brava". Everyone were watching on a TV one episode per week, where handsome Ivo with pony tail is making innocent Milagros fall in love. Right now I barely remember what has happened in there but "Cambio dolor" gonna stay with me forever. Same as my weakness for latino music and people. There were many more hispanic series which I still can remember so so but...

Again when I was teenager in TV they started to play mexican telenovela which was soooo toxic when I think about it now, (but lets be honest - what is not toxic at that age...) that became my favourite one with all the songs until this day. What was most suprising is that I started to catch some spanish words without thinking of it. So with the years I decided that I want to learn spanish - I was even considering to switch the high school in Krakow for that one who had half spanish language. But years were passing by and I went to a studies with barely touching any vocabulary.

One time I saw an advert about Spanish 2 weeks intense course in Andalusia. It cost a load of money of money (around 2500PLN that time) so of course I couldnt go. But my lack of finances hurt me, as I was 1 point away from getting scholarship. It was not a lot but still would be nice to go out with girls to eat together sometimes. So I decided to find a propper job. From time to time I was getting some random temporary jobs like inventory, post card warehouse, farm works but it was never serious and only for couple of days per month.

God bless me for getting my first fulltime work in cafe (btw. it was shitty job, like you can expect in gastronomy), where I could save a bit bit of money, but most important I met totally different people who opened my eyes for the world.

So while still in college, I started earning extra money after classes - it was my first 'serious' job at a café in Galeria Krakowska.

As you know, like in any catering business and working with clients, it wasn't easy. Over time, a great team was formed, thanks to which I wanted to go to work. I'm still in touch with some of them till this day. During our daily philosophical and thoughtful conversations, we touched on a lot of different topics. One day I said to Sara: "I dream of Spain, Argentina or America, but it's unrealistic, because I don't have money for such trips."

She said: "You can go there and earn a money at the same time. Have you heard of something like work and travel program, or au pair? My friend went to America like that. She doesn't earn a fortune, but at least she travels and improves her language skills."

However, I was overwhelmed, because I had a big language barrier and I had to finish my studies.

Buuuuuuuuut

I started to think more about what Sara had told me.
