The trip started with an introduction of Peter Jackson on a bus TV and of course movie scenes. The bus was going around 5 min inside the farm as the village is settled in valley surrounded by hills (also the drons are prohibited). We had an incredible guide Brad - super funny plus has PhD in Tolkien studies!!! I didnt even know there is such a subject O.o
Total duration was 2,5h including photos, interior visiting of Hobbit house and drink at Green Dragon pub. We've heard many unique stories referring to the movie and the set itself. Any moment of that trip I enjoyed, I definitely don't regret - at the end I was so touched, I wanted to shed a tear.
There are couple of options to choose like second breakfast combo but most of the time, those one even if more expensive, there are always booked. So remember to schedule your trip in advance for those special events. They are providing weddings as well - in the same place as Sam & Rosie got married... O.O The best thing in the whole world was coffee! For god sake, not the taste of course.. It was for the mug!!! Map of Middle-Earth for only 5$ <3
What is funny - just 3 weeks before that date, when I was preparing to leave my job in subway, I was looking for another one and my curiosity told me to check on this website and here it is! I found job opportunity in Hobbiton set movie - I applied immediately. However a little later I got an answer..
Because of my visa conditions, I cannot stay longer than 3 months with one employer so unfortunately its too short period for them to make contact for me. But I think its for better as the place visited every day by me, would lost all magic it has now and also from what I saw in a rainy day when I came back there to drink a coffee from that amazing and magical cup of Middle-Earth (just for that I created a profile on buycoffe.to as my money has finished due to crazy travelling), that they are extremely busy with bunch of annoying foreigners every 10 min, so I would kill them all probably.
If you would like to sponsor me a Hobbito-coffee, I would be gracefully appreciated.
I discovered couple of other places where LOTR was shooted so they are next to visit obviously. Meanwhile I go to watch this maravilloso trylogy once again.
The beauty in this movie is lying not only in great skill of the director but the story itself - showing the importance of a friendship, core values of person, choices everyone is facing and what some people does not know - the correlation between great evil in the movie and in the World War I which Tolkien experienced on the front lines.
So here it is. My biggest dream ever acomplished. Now I can peacefully die :)
Well.. actually I have some other dreams to do too, but I think I can say that my satisfaction got fulfilled. But I might go to Hobbiton once again to drink another coffee haha
Untill then, I have to see couple of waterfalls on the way. In February I start to work again as travelling is money consuming a lot.
PS. I truely believe that the hero in LOTR is not Frodo but Sam...
First time I saw them, when I was around 13yo. Since then I love fantasy world and I watched them already hundreds of times. However I did not even know that such a thing like New Zeland exist - I was even too young to understand how the planes works.
When I was living abroad for the first time (this story will be uploaded soon), I slowly entered into adulthood and realized that I dont want to live in Poland neither in UK. I was thinking that Spain might be the place for me but again after all, something was bothering me there. Although I could noticed that a new idea appeared in my head - some day I want to settle down so I need to find my perfect place for that. I do not know exactly how the idea of New Zeland came into my mind but its been loooooooong time already since I wanted not only visited this place, but live here and finally stay. Although its not so easy to become resident here at all. Actually for some people its even impossible. For me this year - 2024, was my last chance to come on a working holiday visa (you can apply until 30yo) and experience for one year about how it is to be a citizen here. I was always imaging it in my head as a paradise. At this exact moment - couple of years after and plenty of experience later, I can admit that such a place does not exist in this galaxy. Its only in your imagination unfortunately. If you are interested about life on this Island you can check this article.
When I was writing this article in a link, ahead of me was waiting trip to Hobbiton - that was the main reason I actually cane to New Zeland. Although I had a feeling that I will be disappointed to see all that magic in real life and discovered that there is no magic there. Because thats what a great movie does - moves your imagination in such incredible places that you dont want to come back to reality anymore. That is why some dreams are ment to stay dreams and never be accomplished. So I was sceptic A LOT...
But...
When I came on place (you suppose to be 20 min before the time on the ticket - I was 1 h, but somehow I was late... xD dont know what has happenned.. I think I went to black whole or sth.) they put me on next bus which was going in 20 min, meanwhile I went to shop and I bought aaaaaammmmaaaazzziiinnngggggg notebook for my next adventures.
